PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Intelsat General Communicatioins, LLC (August 2017 – Present)

 Sr. PRINCIPAL ENGINEER – Space segment system engineering, link budget analysis, customer solutions engineeering, innovation development and pre/post sales support for U.S. government clients.

AOS, Inc.  (July 2003 – July 2009)

 SYSTEMS ENGINEER - Design, develop, test and install custom communications systems utilizing INMARSAT and other  mobile satellite networks, encryption equipment and data com hardware/software to meet customer specified missions. Directly support sales team in translating customer requirements into proposals. Performed link budgets and procured space segment. Installed and operated iDirect hub in Burum, Netherlands. Designed and installed iDirect networks across North Africa and Middle east. Familiar with Newtec, Comtech/EF Data and LinkStar DVB-RCS hardware. Majority of work was for U.S. government classified customers.

 

PETREX International, Inc. (Jun. 1999 - July 2003)

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT  - Indentified new business opportunities and wrote draft business plans for integration into current business portfolio. Provided technical support for all new product sales. Specified products to meet customer requirements. Performed satellite link budget analysis and did price/performance trade off analysis. Supplied field support for customer applications. Wrote proposals and customer presentations. Provided network design to meet customer specifications in a multi-vender environment.

APPLICATIONS ENGINEER, (Mar. 1997 – Jun. 1999) – Designed network applications using SCPC DAMA satellite technology. Acted as liason between manufacturer, integrator and customer. Actively participated in defining customer requirements and selecting third party solutions. Collaborated with marketing to establish product placement in marketplace.Provided field support for installation and system configuration to end users.

PRODUCT MANAGER, Mobile Products (1996 – 1997) -Responsible for P&L of $10M product line of INMARSAT, C & Ku band mobile satellite systems.

     Mobile Satellite Products Div. (formerly ViaSat Technology Corp.)

INTERIM GENERAL MANAGER,(1995-1996) Directed the activities of marketing, manufacturing and engineering of transportable INMARSAT standard-B (Lynx) satellite earth stations.

PRODUCT MANAGER, PSAT® SYSTEMS,(1989-1995) Defined customer technical requirements for C and Ku band satellite network applications. Wrote proposals, performed link budget analysis and set prices for custom systems. Generated purchase requisitions, technical drawings, and scheduled in house and outside vendor support. Assisted in on site installation and training. System design and deployment of maritime C-band SCPC network for Comsat on four crusie ships.

SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER (1988-1989) Developed on demand satellite voice/data circuit switch for use with Hughes PES system. Enabled per minute billing of shared hub services using conventional dialing techniques.  Designed,installed and commissioned fixed and transportable satellite earth stations used on Intelsat, Eutelsat, PanAmSat, DOMSAT and Inmarsat.

 

Nav-Com / Magnavox (1978 -1988)

ENGINEERING MANAGER - Lead hardware and software engineering team in development of custom land mobile INMARSAT communications systems. Developed Automatic Vehicle Location System based on TRANSIT satellite navigation system.

SERVICE MANAGER - Directed field service organization in the support of commercial maritime communications and navigation equipment installation, maintenance and repair.

TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE - Performed installation and maintenance of maritime communication and navigation equipment worldwide.

 

Model Communications (1976 - 1978)

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN - Repaired two way land mobile radio equipment for corporate and municipal customers. GE radio factory service center.
